SDLC – Bringing a Software Product to Market

Client: Database & Fault Tolerant Hardware Vendor

Project

A software development firm developed an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Driver that they planned to market. The product was in its initial stages of development and had not been through a full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). At the time it was inefficient and contained many bugs.

Solution

Our analysts worked closely with the developer’s engineering staff and spent several months diagnosing and resolving performance problems and software bugs. We put in place procedures and methods to bring the best product to market in the shortest amount of time at the lowest possible cost while improving software reliability. Additionally we worked with documentation, manufacturing, and marketing departments for an efficient release of the product.

Results

During our one year tenure, we improved performance by a factor of more than 10 and eliminated numerous software bugs. Prior to our work this particular product had only been sold to a small number of clients. As a result of using SDLC methodologies, we were able to improve the release cycle of the product and substantially increase sales of the product.
